Baikal Dunes Lodge

Accommodation, Miscellaneous Hotels

The Baikal Dunes (Baikalskie Dyuni) Lodge is located in one of the most picturesque spots of Baikal lake – in Peschanaya (Sandy) Bay. Peschanaya is the warmest bay at Lake Baikal. It is the only place at the lake where an average annual temperature throughout a year is above freezing. This secluded area is separated from the mainland by a high mountain range, and is accessible only by water or air. Peschanaya bay is famous for its sandy shoreline and pine trees “on stilts” that raise above the beach with its roots naked because of the wind that blows the sand away underneath of them.

The Baikal Dunes lodge hosted its first guests in 1998. It is one of the most modern and comfortable tourist resort on the coast line of Lake Baikal. This is a preserved area of Pribaikalskiy National park which is one of the 5 biggest national parks in Russia. The lodge works only in summers from June to October. Transfer from Irkutsk to the lodge and back is organized by the lodge by bus to Bolshoe Goloustnoe Settlement and then by 2.5 hour ride by boat. Alternatively, one can get there by public hydrofoil boat.

The lodge offers its guest all the amenities for a comfortable stay. Standard room amenities include private toilets en-suite and shared bathrooms with showers. Superior rooms are one-bedroom suites with private bathrooms. Deluxe rooms have bedroom facing Lake Baikal and a terrace. Accommodation is offered on full board basis.
